July 2010 3Di in Action On set with Immortals
We’ve got some great news to announce: Our 3D Inserter has been chosen for the making of the upcoming Greek mythology epic, Immortals, (previously named Dawn Of War, War of the Gods) set to release November 2011. And yes, we too are pleased this film has finally settled on a name. 3Di fuses live camera footage with the 3D virtual world and displays the composite in real-time on an on-set monitor. This provides the director with much more creative control and has been shown to save substantial time and money in production. Unlike other previsualization systems, the 3Di delivers ultra-precise alignment, zero delay in set-up, and no restrictions in lighting – exactly what the extremely fast-paced shooting environment of Immortals demands. Filming is currently under way in Montreal (estimated $85m budget) with the 3Di providing Director Tarsem Singh with real-time previsualization of all the virtual world action. According to Relativity Media, the film “follows the mythological tale of the young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.” Stay tuned for updates!
June 2010 Sex and the City 2 Mo-Sys Lambda shows off in the city
Quote from the International Cinematographers Guild (May 2010)
"Tom Lappin, A camera operator, also brought along his Mo-Sys remote camera head which we carried with key grip Charles Marroquin's jib arm," Thomas adds. "It's nearly impossible, in prep, to anticipate all the places where you might need special equipment to move the camera. Due to the quick grip and camera setup time of this rig, we never hesitated to bring it out if we thought it would help. Because of this, dolly grip Andy Sweeney could put the camera wherever Michael Patrick asked. I've never had that experience before."
May 2010 Buff Production Mo-Sys Car Pole and Lambda used on Promo Ad
At Cine Gear 2008, Mo-Sys launched the now top-selling Car Pole. This is an aluminium pole with a lift system, which a remote head can be attached to and then operated either directly or with pre-recorded moves, obviously for use on cars.
Such was the success of the launch, many clients came and tested the Car Pole, leading to one to say, “I've heard of the Russian Arm, but I've never come across the British Stick!” Such was our desire to tell everyone about the “British Stick”, the sales team contacted camera car companies across the world, informing them of this new product. Buff Connections, were one of those companies, they are a well-established camera car company based in Berlin, doing a number of car commercials throughout the year and were very interested in the system. After many discussions, Buff Connections bought the “British Stick” AND a Lambda remote head which is soon to be upgraded to gyro stabilisation.
All this was completed without a demo, as the product material, video clips that were sent and discussions were enough to convince them of the quality of the products. Mo-Sys looks forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Buff Connections.
September 2009 Stabilization with Buff Gyro Launch
Over the years, the Mo-Sys Lambda has been building an enviable reputation as the leading remote head for modern filming. Presently, the Mo-Sys Lambda operates as either a 2 axis production head, 3 axis or motion control head. Now, after months of tests and demos, we have added gyro stabilisation.
“All tests have gone well and we are happy with the end result”, said Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys. “We now have a serious proposition for anyone wanting to buy an economically priced gyro stabilised head, which also has the functionality to do other jobs.”
With the rise in 3D filming, a number of 3D camera companies have expressed an interest in the Mo-Sys Lambda, for its ability to carry heavy payloads (50kg) and its ease of adjustment, enabling it to carry heavy and large payloads.
